Active Assistance

Established in 1992, Active Assistance is a specialist live-in care provider supporting physically impaired adults & children to live independently at home. A high proportion of our service users are spinal cord injured, however we also support clients with Cerebral Palsy and progressive conditions such as MS.  

Our philosophy is focused on enabling our clients. We achieve this by assigning a PA (Personal Care Assistant) to work under your/your parents’ direction, to help meet your needs and support you in achieving your goals. This is why we refer to our staff as PAs and not carers.  

The other ways our service differs from non-specialist providers include;  
·        Our service operates nationally, throughout England & Wales
·        All care packages are supervised by one of our qualified nursing and healthcare professional team
·        PAs receive specialist training. For spinal cord injury this includes identifying and managing spasms and autonomic episodes
·        PAs are able to support bowel and bladder management routines, including manual evacuation if required, thereby removing the need for frequent District Nurse attendance.
·        All PAs are over 21 and drive. This is critical to maintain the client’s independence
·        80% of our fully managed clients have a regular PA, giving superior continuity and care package stability
